J + R Katz Design & Architecture is a hands-on, full-service firm that offers a high-touch, personalized building experience. Our passion for intelligent, innovative design results in thoughtful, inspired and detail-rich solutions that bring our clients’ needs, desires and vision to life.
Known for our team-oriented approach and high-calibre design, J + R Katz Design & Architecture carefully considers the characteristics of each site and its surrounding environment, along with the ways in which clients will interact with the design, to create unique and uplifting spaces that meet our clients’ functional and aesthetic priorities.
Serving the Vancouver area since 2001, J + R Katz Design & Architecture offers architectural design, interior design, interior décor, contract management, and site supervision. Working collaboratively with consultants, contractors and — most importantly — our clients, we provide an exceptional, hands-on building experience from start to finish.
Jonathan Katz
Jonathan Katz received his architecture degree in 1983 from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he met his future life and business partner, Renée. He worked in Johannesburg and London before immigrating to Vancouver in 1987. Jonathan specialized in residential design and was a project architect on numerous single- and multi-family projects.
In 2001, Jonathan and Renée launched their own practice. Together, they have designed and overseen the construction of many Vancouver-area projects. A registered architect with the Architectural Association of British Columbia, Jonathan believes architecture lifts the spirit — and he works tirelessly to create the unique, uplifting environments his clients call home.
Renée Katz
Renée Katz earned her architecture degree, with distinction, from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1983. She worked in Johannesburg and London before arriving in Vancouver, where she plied her craft at several large architectural practices. Since 2001, she has worked alongside her husband Jonathan in their own practice.
In addition to architectural design, Renée lends her extensive interior design experience to their firm’s projects in a seamless integration with the architecture. A passionate gardener and traveller, Renée loves creating spaces that are elegant, vibrant and liveable.
